"On my way to HKU" was a half day off from readings for me, but it was really, really worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and I will never forget the smiles and laughter I shared with the lovely kids from 潮陽百欣小學.
I was impressed by the kids' remarkable attitude towards learning; some of them even jotted down detailed notes of the lecture held at Loke Yew Hall. To the kids, HKU is a big dream. In a world full of competition, it is essential to give hope to the younger generation, especially underprivileged kids. We should always appreciate and remember the opportunities we received, the help given to us by society and how those chances led our way to HKU and the globalised world. Every kid deserves a chance to an education if they are willing to learn and work, regardless of their family background and social class.
To all the lovely kids from 潮陽百欣小學, 只要有夢想, 凡事可成真—as promised, I hope to see and work with all of you as volunteers for HKU in 10 years' time.
